To All,
I eagerly write to you as it has been far to long. I must begin by giving all glory to God as we have some really... REALLY exciting news!
We recently finished our last classroom block serving Primary 7! This classroom block we constructed is our first 2 story building! The upper level is waiting to be built and it will serve our entire campus - a library! A school is not a school without a library, right folks!? We are thankful for our friends and supporters in Buffalo, WY for their donation of many books that are waiting to fill the shelves!
Last month, July, we had a friend and one of our partners from WY, Richard Zander visit with us here in Busia, Uganda. It was such a great blessing to our children and also to our church partners in WY to see the work God is doing here on ground! Richard will be joining the GHM team as one of our board members!
September 11th we are expecting a husband and wife team, Nino and Nicholas from TN to come and minster with us for two months. We so much look forward to their coming! I can think of no better way to kick off the new school term which begins September 7th!
The exciting news continues... we have begun construction on our very first housing unit!!! This is indeed a miracle to see the full vision of our campus coming to fruition!
Currently we are putting up a fence around our campus for security purposes. Commonly at better schools in Uganda there will be a wall around the campus. You can enter at the front gate where a guard will permit you entrance. This is similar to schools in the U.S. where you enter the main doors pushing the call button to identify yourself for permission into the building. We feel this is an extra precautionary measure in keeping our children safe.
Buildings! Buildings! Buildings! With all the construction happening please let us not rob you from understanding why the buildings matter... to bring education to the poorest of the poor... to offer a hope and a future to the children of Busia, Uganda! We currently have seven children who call GHM campus their home! Until our first housing unit is complete these 7 students learn in their classrooms by day and call their classroom home by night! They fully live on campus, eating 3 meals a day, studying, and even do the washing of their clothes on school grounds!
There's a quote by Mother Teresa that I deeply love and feel now would be a good place to share...
"How can you have to many children? It's like saying there are to many flowers."
We want every child at Give Hope Ministries to feel loved and valued having the opportunity to learn and to take what they learn here at GHM out into a world of opportunity!
Blessings to you all. None of this would be possible without YOU! We are forever grateful to God and to you for being Jesus' hands and feet.
